Taking Action Against Ocean Plastic: The NatureSafe Marine and CleanHub Partnership

Ajla Keško

Ever thought about where your trash ends up? Sadly, much of it finds its way into our oceans, with a staggering 17.6 billion pounds of plastic annually. This isn't just a statistic; it's a harsh reality that is profoundly affecting the health of our oceans.

It's crucial to act now to protect the well-being of both present and future generations. This is where organizations dedicated to addressing plastic waste play a vital role. Among them is CleanHub. It's an organization that's leveraging technology to prevent plastic from entering the ocean through innovative waste recovery initiatives.

So, what does CleanHub do exactly?

CleanHub enables brands to take immediate action on one of the biggest environmental issues we face today: the global plastic crisis. They plan to prevent 50% of new ocean plastic by 2030. To achieve that, they give conscious brands a simple way to be part of that mission.

Unlike alternative approaches that are focused on recovering plastic once it is already in nature, CleanHub is stopping it from getting there in the first place. For them, ocean plastic pollution is solved on land, not in the sea. That’s why they’re bringing waste collection systems to coastal regions where they don’t yet exist. Therefore, they stop waste from leaking into the environment or being openly burned. Instead, they collect it on a large scale and make sure to dispose of all waste properly.

They track all the plastic recovered through the CleanHub app and process it in the most environmentally sustainable way available.

How Does the CleanHub Tracker/Impact Report Work?

As soon as a company commits to clean oceans with them, they receive an Impact Report connected to the tracking platform. This report displays the overall quantity that their collection partners have committed to recover.

All of their collection partners around the world track each and every step of the recovery chain by uploading proof of work to their platform via the CleanHub software.

There are four main steps in the recovery chain:

  1. Plastic collection
  2. Sorting of the plastic into different types
  3. Ready for recovery
  4. Safe and certified recovery

Every time they recover and certify a certain amount of plastic, they can add it to the company's Impact Report, thus pushing the tracker number up.

We Partner With Minds Alike

We value our partners as key contributors to achieving our mission of promoting sustainability. Our goal is to achieve plastic neutrality by the end of 2024. To accomplish this mission, we have partnered with CleanHub.

We believe that if we use plastic, we've got to do it responsibly. Although our products currently incorporate plastic bottles, we opt for PET plastics due to their recyclability. As we innovate towards a new formula that eliminates single-use plastics, we have partnered with CleanHub to further reduce our environmental impact.
