About SulNox
SuLNOxEco technology capitalizes on the free water naturally present in diesel fuel systems. Rather than treating this water as a contaminant to be removed, SuLNOxEco technology purposefully emulsifies it with the help of surfactants to create a stable and beneficial fuel mixture. Conventional diesel fuel typically contains small amounts of free water (50-200 ppm) that enters through condensation, storage systems, and the fuel distribution chain.

Microexplosion Phenomenon
Temperature Reduction
- In SuLNOxEco, the naturally occurring water is properly emulsified with surfactants, creating a stable mixture
- When fuel droplets are sprayed into the hot combustion chamber, water (which has a lower boiling point than diesel) reaches its superheated stage faster
- This creates rapid vapor expansion, causing the fuel droplets to break up in what's called "microexplosion" or "puffing"
- These microexplosions result in secondary atomization, creating smaller fuel droplets that mix better with air
- The emulsified water absorbs heat during vaporization, lowering the local combustion temperature
- This cooler burning environment significantly reduces nitrogen oxides (NOx) formation
- Lower temperature combustion can reduce thermal stress on engine component

Primary Benefits
-
Emissions Reduction
- NOx reduction of up to 37% compared to conventional diesel
- Particulate matter (PM/soot) reduction of up to 90%
- Total hydrocarbon (THC) reduction in many cases
-
Combustion Improvements
- Better fuel-air mixing due to secondary atomization
- More complete combustion in some engine conditions
- Potential improvement in thermal efficiency with optimal water content
-
Practical Considerations
- SuLNOxEco properly manages the water already present in diesel fuel
- No additional water is required; rather, the existing water is emulsified effectively
- Stable emulsions require appropriate surfactants to maintain consistency
